We took a walk out in the open field
The wonders of our land are shining bright
Such endless beauty rolling far and wide
Ive seen it all before yet new tonight

The golden sun is blazing in the sky
And clouds are drifting somewhere far away
The buzzing flies are dancing everywhere
And cow trails scatter all across our way

Look the swallows built their nests in cliffs of clay
The scent of pine trees floats upon the breeze
The trees stood bare and frozen back in April
But now the cherry blossoms flood the trees

Were slowly heading back toward our home
Deciding to climb over the high hill
To watch the valleys stretching from above
And feel the silence standing calm and still

Just look above the sky is turning darker
Where did all these storm clouds gather from?
Seems like tonight a heavy rain is coming
To wash our quiet little village clean

I stand beside you near the rocky hillside
While wild May thunders rolling through the sky
You hold my hand and softly whisper to me
Maybe its time for us to run inside?

But I stand still as if Im truly spellbound
Watching lightning painting heaven bright
The neighbor drives her goats back to the shelter
While thunder shakes the darkness of the night

And then I suddenly begin to realize
Im not afraid inside I feel so free
As if this storm had slept somewhere within me
For all these years so deep inside of me

No I dont want to spread my wings and vanish
I do not need to fly above the sky
I want with every cell of my whole body
To breathe the storm and feel the wild wind cry!

I want to feel the lightning through my veins
To fall as cooling rain from heaven high
Not just to soar above our fields forever
But be the storm the thunder and the sky!

And while I stood there trapped inside my dreaming
The storm had slowly wandered far away
I look around and you my dear are smiling
Already near our little home you stay

You wave to me while standing near the doorway
Im walking slowly down beside the fence
Come on my love lets hide away from evening
And taste your home cooked supper once again
