Rain keeps knocking on my windowpane
Though its May my soul feels winter cold
Apple blossoms falling in the rain
Covering the earth in white and gold

Garden trees stand naked in the twilight
Shining through the moisture and the grey
Frozen petals vanish in the night wind
Blown like fragile memories away

Bitter cold comes creeping through the silence
Like the spring was never meant to stay
Only lonely rain upon the puddles
Washing all our fragile dreams away

Where a brand new chapter can begin
Though we sleep inside this stormy cage

Still I know the sun will soon return here
Bringing warmth and light into the sky
Golden rainbows waking in the distance
Birds will sing again as clouds roll by

Rain will fade and heavy clouds will scatter
Stars will light the darkness from above
Nightingales will sing before the morning
Filling every silent field with love

Though the springtime still is cold and restless
