They cut my Internet — no warning, no care,
No "heads up" given, they just left me there.
They severed all my wires, broke my link with the world,
Forgot about me, left my story untold.
The world is one, yet they want me apart,
Right now I'm stranded with a lonely heart.
I don't know what to do, I don't know what's next,
Just sitting here alone, perplexed and vexed.
I'm sitting here alone offline,
Can't do this thing or that — no sign.
My life feels like it's slipped away,
To eighteen hundred's break of day.
More vital than bread, the web had become,
No voice, no ears — I'm deaf and dumb.
I fell right out of life's grand scene,
And if it's permanent — what does that mean?
A man needs air, a man needs drink,
A roof, some food, a place to think.
A window to the world, free speech, free mind —
They cut me offline — life resigned.
I'm sitting here alone offline,
Can't do this thing or that — no sign.
My life feels like it's slipped away,
To eighteen hundred's break of day.
Without the net — it's like no light,
Without the net — my song takes flight.
So this is how the poet's torn
"There's barely life when offline born."
I'm sitting here alone offline,
Can't do this thing or that — no sign.
My life feels like it's slipped away,
To eighteen hundred's break of day.
Forgive me, friends — I'll cut this romance short!
The Internet is back — I'm gone, I won't be caught!
The Internet is back — I'm gone, I won't be caught!
The Internet is back — I'm gone, I won't be caught!
