Pyrohgen Fire won't take

Night closes the ring, the mountain lies still
One fire burns for the whole world on the hill
A hundred voices and never a string
A living wall where the sparks take wing
They don't sing here — they breathe as one clan
For here a man is a hearth to a man

Darkness knocks chak-chak-chak
Heartbeat pounds tak-tak-tak
If you fear it — one step back
If you're with me — no turning back!

The fire won't take! The fire won't take!
The one who was born in its core
The fire won't take! The fire won't take!
What's burned once burns no more
Stand in the ring, every man in place
Let the fire breathe right into your face!

Older than starlight, the local tale
They put a torch to the beast-god's tail
He burned their whole fortress down to the ground
And not one mark on him was found
And that's why the teaching here goes this way
The flame is your brother — if you don't betray

The fire won't take! The fire won't take!
The one who was born in its core
The fire won't take! The fire won't take!
What's burned once burns no more
Stand in the ring, every man in place
Let the fire breathe right into your face!

Cast my black seed in the bonfire's core
Then rake through the ashes at dawn
All the rest is ash and nothing more
But the little black seed lives on
It was born where the heat burns white
Where even the stone runs like rain
What walks from that mouth into the light
Will never fear fire again

The fire won't take! The fire won't take!
The one who was born in its core
The fire won't take! The fire won't take!
What's burned once burns no more
Stand in the ring, every man in place
Let the fire breathe right into your face!
The fire won't take! The fire won't take!
Sing while the ring's awake!
