Today I'll simply stay silent
Bury myself deeper in the quiet
And we will sit like this till dawn
My silence and I

Maybe it will enlighten me
Or pierce me with revelation
Or with a brand-new poem
Or simply comfort my soul

Silence does not need a thing
It comes before everything
Within it sounds and words awaken
And there they also die

And someday I will die as well
Like a sound I'll die like a word
But how could I die for silence
If now I am the same as it

In silence it is easy to be born anew
Nothing at all is needed for that
It never comes except as something new
And here my rebirth begins

Through silence we begin to see
Whole worlds grow strong inside of us
From milky vastness they arrive within us

But whether it is true I do not know
I know nothing at all
And I do not trust in knowledge

I live by silence alone
And only through it do I suffer
