I recall my youthful morning fresh from school and barely yawning
When the train that was my lifetime pulled away from native ground
Knew the road would stretch out gleaming knew of stations without seeming
So I boarded but where to exit no one ever told me how
As a child I was hard-headed and the station Learning dreaded
By the door I stood there pacing then decided not to leave
And the station they called Labor held no interest did no favor
Didn't even plan to wander down that platform you'd believe
On the way I must confess it women's charm I would caress it
Letting no one slip beside me changing them again again
And no matter how I tried it all alone I stand denied it
For I missed and overslept it that one station Love back then
And for this exact same reason single still through every season
Past the station Family silent flew my train and left no trace
At Farewell I braked too lately woke up far too late and greatly
For my mother had departed and my friends had left their place
I recall it now my brothers at the station Wealth no others
Were allowed to step out freely just a privileged connected few
Many wished to leap to gather and in truth they did but rather
Fell beneath the wheels of metal never saw them that I knew
There I felt no fear no shaking never tried to risk the breaking
Knew that just around the corner waited my own station near
But the train began to thunder and I trembled torn asunder
And decided someone wiser I should ask to make it clear
So I turned and saw the matter I'm alone the empty clatter
And a dizzying confusion filled my soul with cold and dread
Now it wasn't fun or funny Have I passed it all that money
Torn by doubt and trembling sorely to the driver's cab I sped
Crowned with silver gently swaying he was tired the train obeying
Robed in white a cross upon him and at once I knew his name
You're Saint Joseph blessed greeting Tell me when's the station meeting
Happiness I've waited ages And he answered me with shame
You have missed it child of heaven your own station's long since given
Though the choice who would deny it was not simple was not light
Should have waited just a measure only two remain to treasure
Next-to-last will be the Ailments and the last one is the Night
And my legs gave way beneath me All the journey slept right through me
Where's the brake I screamed in terror Calm the old man made it plain
Late my son you've caught the warning When you climbed aboard that morning
Did they never tell you clearly in these trains there is no brake
There is no brake
There is no brake
