Mom bought me a miracle at the store
A hundred shiny markers, just an emerald!
Brighter than a rainbow, more magical than in a dream
I decided to create art on the wall
I draw a house and the sun, green grass
Mom, dad, and my little sister, everyone I love!
On the wallpaper, on the bed, on the new dresser
But not in my boring, old notebook!
The painting is finished, it's a real masterpiece
I'm waiting for my family to appreciate my big maneuver
I thought they would say, You're an artist, you're a genius, son!
I was sure that my family would praise me
I'm painting a house and the sun, green grass
Mom, Dad, and my little sister, everyone I love!
On the wallpaper, on the bed, on the new dresser
But not in my boring, old notebook!
But the whole family came back, and there was a rumble
Dad gave me a slap instead of praise
They took all the markers, and there was a lot of noise
My talent doesn't seem to captivate the adults
But my sister whispered softly in my ear It's great!
And I smiled at her praise
I know that they'll argue, but in this world of fuss
It's better to paint the walls than to waste all your money
