Don’t go near the edge or the side
Or a gray wolf will come there
Grab you by your little side
And then a big bear will come
Bite a third of your little arms clean off
Then a fox kidnaps your little leg
A hare sucks out your eyes whenever it can
Worms crawl under your nail bed
A lynx drives its claw into your heart – you know it!
And a red tomcat, quick and wild
Bites right through your throat – mild? No, wild!
An ox slits your guts open with its horn
A moose rips your tongue out of your throat – a horror
A little dog from the yard
Gnaws your thigh bone soft and dumb
The cat licks your eye sockets clean
The pig bites your butt cheeks off – all yours
The mole eats up your liver
The ox tears your mouth apart with its hoof – no bargain
The hedgehog sneaks your tongue away
A little worm eats its way through your brain
The woodpecker hacks your skull to bits
The moth is already in your lung – how nice
The badger chews up your heart in no time
The viper nests in your nose’s rest
And cheerful little flowers, colorful and sublime
Grow right up through your kidneys – hard time!
But then, to all the noise and cry
Comes Papa – no sadist, just a guy
He gently shakes the hare a bit
And gives the bear a mighty kick
The wolf – his fist is itching tight
He punches its head until sparks ignite
He stabs the bear right through the chest
So it won’t torment children – and the rest
So the critters finally understand
Dad fires shots with his gun in hand
He pulls all the innards out
Makes Mama a little fur, no doubt
“Cat, shame!” and “Mouse, off, shoo!
So the child can sleep – quiet and pooh
With the Russian hair, fine
