We fly! A misty, fading line
The earth recedes from my sight
Beneath a step no longer mine
With frothy white, a strange design
A foreign element takes flight
My heart now trembles, chest aches sore
In vain the sea's bright expanse
My soul has entered that dark door
Where unseen power, evermore
Has borne it in a captive trance
It seems to sense, before the day
When, shipless, I shall swiftly roam
The airy ocean, far away
And fading in the misty gray
My native earth will be my home
