In your prayers to God, don't be a hypocrite
Standing on the corners of the busy streets
Praying so that everyone can see it
Your only reward is what the world repeats
But when you pray, go enter in your room
And shut the door to cast away the gloom
And pray in secret to the Father true
He, who sees the secret, quiet prayer
Will openly reward you for your care.
So don't just babble words into the air
Oh Father, you who are in heaven
Hallowed be Your holy name
May Your kingdom come, Your will be done
On Earth, as in heaven, just the same
Oh, grant us this day to live
With our daily bread from you
And forgive us all our debts, dear Lord
As we forgive our debtors too
From temptation, shield us strong
From the evil one, deliver us now
For Yours is the kingdom, power, and glory
Amen, forever we will bow!
When you give to the poor, don't sound a horn
Don't shout it out for everyone to hear
That's what the hypocrites do, as if reborn
In search of praise, holding their glory dear
Let your left hand never even know
What your right hand does, a secret deed
Let your hidden act of kindness grow
Your Father sees and knows your every need
And when you fast, don't put on a sad face
Like the hypocrites with their somber show
Their fasting is for the marketplace
But let your worship for the Father flow

Beware of the false prophets that you meet
In sheep's clothing, they're a hungry wolf
By their own twisted fruit, you'll know their feet
So from their teachings, keep yourself aloof
A wise man is the one who understands
And builds his humble house upon the stone
The rains will fall, the winds will sweep the lands
But that strong house will not be overthrown
Because it's founded on the rock alone
Enter through the gate that's straight and small
The gate is wide and easy is the road
That leads to ruin and destruction's call
And many choose to take that wide abode
