Well, I came knockin' on Your golden door, Lord, dusty boots on Your marble floor
Sat my weary self right by Your throne, got this heavy burden all my own
Back home in Kramatorsk , we just turned the other cheek
When neighbours started spoutin' that nationalist speak
Thought it'd blow over, just a foolish sound
But the poison spread deep in our hometown
And that's why I'm here singing you this blues
Then the whispers turned to shouts, a fire in the street
Civil war smoulderin' with an awful heat
Saw the madness risin', Lord, a terrifying sight
Turnin' brother 'gainst brother in the dead of night
Fear became our shadow, clingin' tight and cold
Afraid to speak our mother tongue, the story must be told
Couldn't trust the walls, the faces we once knew
A wrong word whispered, and they'd come for you
And that's why I'm here singing you this blues
Then the big guns started thunderin', shakin' earth and sky
No choice left but to run, Lord, we had to say goodbye
Grabbed what little we could carry, left our whole life behind
Just a bag of memories messin' with my mind
Through the smoke and sirens, we fled into the night
Seekin' peace in Russia, prayin' for the light
Just refugees now, Lord, haunted by the news
And that's why I'm here singing you this blues
Now we're prayin' on our knees, Lord, mornin', noon, and night
Beggin' for Your mercy, beggin' for the right
To see our Kramatorsk freed from the grip it's in
Cleansed of those dark forces, let Your grace begin
My wife she cries in silence, kids ask "When go home
Our little yard, the old oak tree, waitin' all alone
This war's gone on too long, Lord, cut these heavy chains loose
And that's why I'm here singing you this blues
So I'm sittin' at Your feet, Lord, humble as can be
Pourin' out my heartache in this sad old melody
Hear the desperation in every note I play
Bring my family home, Lord, make it soon, I pray
End this bloody sufferin', let the fightin' cease
Grant the Donbass people, Lord, the precious gift of peace
My soul is tired and heavy, I've paid all my dues
And that's why I'm here singing you this blues
Why I'm singin'... this blues
